The best way to teach citizens about the infrastructure updates being paid for with their tax dollars? Teach their kids first! We introduced a handful of fun characters based on real-life machines to show children how construction in their area will make the world a better place. Storybooks can be found in libraries and schools throughout Alexandria, Virginia.

Grownups love it, too!

At the end of the day, it ain’t the kids paying the water bills. Let’s formulate some outreach for the adults, too. Informative banners and flyers, engaging event signage, and even a vinyl wrap and paintjob for a 14-foot tunnel boring machine named Hazel. We did it all.

With storybooks 4 and 5 underway, AlexRenew shows no sign of slowing down their momentum.

Our community outreach initiatives have proven successful through a fun framework, accessible language, and vibrant, informative design.

Shouts out to Melodie Tutwiler for creative direction, and Ashley Katen for design collab. Big love to Megan Smith and Ashton Boiar on copy. Finger guns to Brian Harrell for making things come to life in After Effects.
